Terms of Service

The short version: Bodha is a journaling companion, not a therapist or medical service. Use it thoughtfully, keep your account secure, and don't misuse the platform. These terms are governed by Indian law.

1. Who we are

Bodha: Journal ("Bodha", "we", "us", or "our") is an independent iOS app created and operated independently by Jithin Ravishankar. By downloading or using Bodha, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Bodha. By using the app, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, please do not use Bodha.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password with others. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Bodha is not a medical or mental health service

This is important. Please read carefully.

Bodha is a personal journaling and self-reflection tool. The AI-generated responses in Bodha are not medical advice, psychiatric advice, therapy, or crisis intervention. Bodha is not a substitute for professional mental health care.

Do not rely on Bodha in a mental health emergency.
If you are in crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts, please contact a professional immediately.

We include in-app crisis resources as a courtesy, but their presence does not make Bodha a crisis service. You acknowledge that Bodha is not liable for any decisions you make based on AI-generated content within the app.

5. AI-generated content

Bodha uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses to your journal entries and Untangle sessions. By using AI features, you acknowledge that:

AI responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not suited to your situation.
AI responses are not the opinion of a qualified professional.
Your text is sent to Anthropic's servers to generate a response. See our Privacy Policy for details.
You are responsible for how you interpret and act on AI-generated content.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Bodha offers a free tier and a premium subscription (Bodha Premium). Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store and processed by RevenueCat.

Monthly: $5.99/month
Annual: $44.99/year

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. We do not offer refunds outside of Apple's standard refund policy.

If you subscribed within the last 14 days and have not used the premium features, you may be entitled to a refund under EU consumer law. Contact us at bodhajournal@outlook.com to request a refund.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of all journal entries, notes, and other content you create in Bodha ("Your Content"). By using the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the app's features (including syncing via Firebase and sending to Claude API for AI responses).

We do not sell Your Content. We do not use Your Content to train AI models. You can delete Your Content at any time.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Bodha to:

Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the app or its services
Use the app in any way that violates applicable law
Submit content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights
Attempt to extract, scrape, or systematically access Claude API responses outside the app

9. Intellectual property

The Bodha app, its design, branding, and original content (excluding Your Content) are owned by Jithin Ravishankar. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the app without our written permission.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Bodha is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times, error-free, or that AI responses will be accurate or appropriate for your situation.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bodha: Journal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Bodha, including reliance on AI-generated content.

11. Termination

You may stop using Bodha at any time and delete the app. You can request account deletion by contacting bodhajournal@outlook.com. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days of a valid request.

We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of Bodha after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of India.
